The Sumter County Traffic Division is dedicated to ensuring the safety of the citizens of Sumter County and the motoring public. One of the primary goals of the Traffic Unit is to reduce the number of crashes through education and selective traffic enforcement. We accomplish this mission through pro-active, fair, and consistent traffic enforcement. We also partner with county and state agencies by participating in monthly Community Traffic Safety Team (CTST) and quarterly Traffic Incident Management (TIM) meetings to address traffic related issues.

The unit’s focus is on enforcing traffic laws, investigating traffic crashes and DUI’s. The traffic unit responds to hundreds of traffic complaints each year and each deputy in the traffic unit has advanced training in traffic crash and/or DUI investigations.
