Victim Services

Ashley Martinez and Sharon Doncourt

The Sheriff's Office employs two Victim Advocates that are available to provide on-scene crisis counseling and follow up services to victims of crime in our community.

The Sheriff's Office receives grant funding through the Victim of Crime Act (VOCA) to support these positions.  Victim advocates are available to link victims to community resources and provide on-going support to them through the criminal justice system.  Our advocates are available to assist victims with injunctions, accompany victims to court, and advocate for victims' rights during the criminal justice process.

The Sheriff's Office is expanding the services offered by our victim advocates in order to respond to the needs of our community.  Our victim advocates are also providing services to families who have a loved one with dementia/Alzheimer's, families dealing with the loss of a loved one due to suicide, homelessness, and mental health referrals.

Our Victim Advocate can be reached by calling 352-569-1623; 352-569-1677 or through dispatch after hours 352-793-2621
